Milestone highlights sustainability contributions of company’s patented molecular recycling process

ORLANDO, Fla. – May 6, 2024 GREENMANTRA Technologies, an innovator in molecular recycling of plastics, announced here at NPE2024 (booth #S35181) that its CERANOVUS® sustainable additive manufacturing site in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, has been certified under the ISCC Plus (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) program. Awarded in March following an independent external audit, the certification covers all products manufactured at the company’s facility.

ISCC PLUS certification is based on a mass balance approach that tracks the amount and sustainability characteristics of circular material in the value chain, and attributes it based on verifiable and approved bookkeeping methods.

“This prestigious certification publicly recognizes our strong commitment to a sustainable future,” said Domenic Di Mondo, president, GREENMANTRA Technologies. “We undertook the rigorous ISCC PLUS process to help our customers better meet demands for circularity, and because we believe it will give them a competitive edge in positioning their products. We are proud of our contributions in solving pressing environmental issues such as plastic waste proliferation.”

Patented Technology

GREENMANTRA Technologies uses a unique type of molecular recycling to produce specialty polymer additives from 100 percent waste plastic feedstock. The company’s low energy, high yield depolymerization process breaks down long polymer chains in post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste to create shorter-length polymers. This process yields CERANOVUS specialty polymer additives that act as melt flow modifiers in polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) resins. They can increase operational efficiency, raise productivity using less energy and enable larger amounts of recycled content to be incorporated in plastic parts.

“We promote circularity by converting plastic waste into high-performance, high-value additives,” said Ben Scott, director of Research and Innovation, GREENMANTRA Technologies. “These additives can replace – and surpass – fossil-based versions to increase the overall sustainability of polymer formulations. Furthermore, they improve the performance and operational efficiency of resins containing recycled content, which encourages greater use of these feedstocks.”

In addition to plastic applications, CERANOVUS additives are used in asphalt roofing and paving. They function as a co-modifier in styrene butadiene styrene (SBS), atactic polypropylene (APP), modified asphalt and oxidized asphalt to enhance high temperature and structural stability while reducing formulation costs. Along with boosting the performance of asphalt, GREENMANTRA’s solutions help manufacturers improve their sustainability profile and lower their carbon footprint.

GREENMANTRA’s CERANOVUS specialty polymer additives are featured through notable application displays at the company’s booth at NPE, taking place May 6-10 in Orlando, Fla.

About GREENMANTRA Technologies

GREENMANTRA Technologies uses molecular recycling technology to transform hard-to-recycle plastics into value-creating specialty waxes and polymer additives. Its products are used as performance enhancers and processing aids in asphalt roofing and paving, extruded plastic pipe, construction materials and auto parts. These additives also allow manufacturers to greatly increase the recycled content of their end products without sacrificing performance. GREENMANTRA annually diverts thousands of tons of waste plastic from oceans and landfills into new applications. For more information, visit www.greenmantra.com.
